Rabbit skin glue can be used for sizing canvas prior to oil priming and as an adhesive for gilding and woodwork. It is recommended to prepare the glue by dissolving in water just short of boiling point (60-63°C)
It is also used as a retarder for gypsym in scagliola and stuccomarmo techniques.
